Sense and Respond
In this unit, students will build models to understand how light enters the human eye and is processed. Students will compare this to light-sensing robots.
Hands-on Activities:
- Students assemble a pinhole camera and consider how the movement on light in a straight line produced the image
- A demo using a bowl with a hole in the center and string to model how light moves into the eye
- Students assemble a periscope and model how light moves in a straight line to produce the image seen
- Students explore robotic Cubelets to compare how robots and humans sense and respond to the world
- Students use a ruler to test their reaction time given a variety of stimuli
