Grasping Gravity

Grasping Gravity (All Ages) Experiment with Casey using different hands-on materials to study space-time, explore falling objects, and the difference between weight and gravity using math. STEM Kits are uniquely designed to support formal and informal use. They can be implemented as quick lessons between units, in afterschool programming, clubs and many other areas! Each kit includes step-by-step lesson plans, all necessary materials for 150 participants and can be completed in a day, or easily be expanded into longer lessons. They are accessible for all ages, offer three interactive stations, career connections, and engage participants in STEM topics. Visualizing the Fabric of Space Using a hands on demonstration, participants will learn about the warping of space-time by massive objects and the movements of less massive objects in regards to the curvature of space-time. Time Test with Gravity Participants find that all falling objects reach the ground in about the same amount of time, unless experiencing disproportional forces, such as air resistance. Weight on Other Worlds Participants will learn how to differentiate between weight and gravity using math and hands on exploration.
