Geoquest Nevada: Navigating Natural Resources (Grades 6-8) The GeoQuest Nevada: Navigation Natural Resources curriculum engages students in understanding natural resources, their origins, usage, and environmental impacts. Through interactive activities and simulations, students learn about natural resource distribution, geological processes, mining's impact on the biosphere, supply-demand dynamics, consumption, and human effects on the planet. In Lesson 1, students explore resource distribution's environmental consequences. Lesson 2 delves into mining's biosphere impact through map activities and geocaching, prompting sustainable extraction strategies. Lesson 3 focuses on nonrenewable resources, human population effects, and renewable energy via Derby car simulations, culminating in claims supported by evidence and reasoning. *This box is made possible by funding provided by NV Energy and Southwest Gas as part of the Energy Smart Program at DRI.
