Cosmic Lens (All Ages) Explore the electromagnetic spectrum with Casey! This kit includes activities using a spectrometer and UV sensitive beads to help participants explore the different wavelengths and frequencies of light and how they impact our lives. STEM Kits are uniquely designed to support formal and informal use. They can be implemented as quick lessons between units, in afterschool programming, clubs and many other areas! Each kit includes step-by-step lesson plans, all necessary materials for 150 participants and can be completed in a day, or easily be expanded into longer lessons. They are accessible for all ages, offer three interactive stations, career connections, and engage participants in STEM topics. Visible Light Participants explore wavelengths and frequencies to see light that humans cannot see with their naked eye. Helping Casey use the electromagnetic spectrum to study and observe astronomical objects. Beyond Visible Light Participants will create a hypothesis, then observe the effects of different electromagnetic wave-lengths on Star Particles (UV sensitive beads). Helping Casey study the different wavelengths of light/radiation and how it impacts our lives. Electromagnetic Spectrum in Space Students demonstrate their knowledge of the Electromagnetic Spectrum by matching wavelength and frequency information to images of space that were taken utilizing telescopes within the matching electromagnetic range.
